    The Overhaul Project Begins! #1

    Why are we doing this?

    • The stats on items are done incorrectly. Past devs did nerfs/buffs to classes based on item stats. This was then copy, pasted, scaled, and then changed again. This process has been repeated a few times over the years. There is also incorrect scaling on current gear(t8+) that has been causing issues. This is the main reason for the overhaul.
    • The revamp removed a lot of content but did not fix the issues stated above. After a time it became more of a issue to find a proper balance to raids so zone wide nerfs to players where added. Then hidden auras were added to bosses to reduce certain classes damage to bosses. This was not a fix, only a band-aid to the issue itself.
    • There is no order to the current content on Unlimited. Items from different eras are conflicting with current content. Past changes to fix something are interfering with current changes. The list of issues just goes on.
    • It is because of these issues we're going totally overhaul every item in-game. To fix our issues we have go to the root of the issue. It's not something we want to do but we currently cannot release any new content because of these issues and it is a very time consuming project for us.
    • Since we're redoing the items we have to redo raids, classes, quest zones, world bosses, and pvp content as well.

How will it effect the realm?

    • Everything on the realm will change. Stats on items. Raids. Class Abilities.

    How long will it take?

    • I wish we could provide you with a solid answer. We sadly do not know. It is just two devs on the staff at the moment. We will do our best to get this project done and released. We want to make new stuff for you guys, not constantly fix older content. We're also training two new devs to assist with this project. Our goal after the project is done is for the two new devs to handle balacing of classes/items. This will allow me to make new content and Fenuks to address core issues and new features/content.

    Will we lose any gear?

    • No gear is expected to be lost at this time. The 1h caster sword will be addressed in being changed to main hand due to having the potential of causing casters to be very unbalanced when dual wielding even when things are overhauled. Rest assured those that have it will be compensated (when the time comes instructions will be announced) as a 1 time thing as we don't see any other work around.

Will haste & spell penetration be affected?

    • Yes. Haste & Spell penetration will be changed along with every other stat. A meeles DPS will no longer be centered around how much haste they have and a casters DPS will no longer be centered around how much spell penetration they have. Making it friendlier for everyone.

Is this for PvE items or PvP items or Both?

    • This will be for both.

    Will Event items be overhauled?

    • Yes. Event items will be fixed and balanced to not be better than end-game. This will also open up the option of newer event items that aren't strictly earned from seasonal events.

    Will Vote items be overhauled?

    • Yes. Voting will become a new mid-item tier set with stats between raid and donor. Better than raid, lower than donor.

    Will donor items be overhauled?

    • It is no secret certain donor items gave you a huge advantage and this change allows us to balance out the difference between donor and non donor. This means all content will be doable by everyone and donor items will no longer be a requirement to fully enjoy the top end instances.

How much are stats getting nerfed?

    • We will not reply in exact amounts. Stats on all items are all over the place so we cannot just nerf everything by value or %. We have to correct these issues one by one on each and every item.

How much Damage and Health will we have afterwards??

    • The max raid geared player will have roughly 800k to 1,2m HP. Donors will be scaled off of them by at least 10%. Voter items are scaled off of raid by 5%. Once again, these aren't exact figures as gear and classes have different scaling. It's too varied to provide a solid number on damage as each class does different damage. This is likely to change in the future.

What about my donor items I donated for?

    • Donor items will always be BiS. Always.

Will the server be harder to play in PvE & PvP? Like raid tactics and character skill wise.

    • Yes and no. In a sense it will be less fast paced but that means you will have to pay attention and react more. No longer depending on auto attacks or random huge damage from abilities.

How is this going to effect the current raids?

    • Well once the item overhauling is done, all raid instances will have to be adjusted to fit the new stats of players. You'll notice that in previous months we changed Tier 1 to Tier 7 raids, this was done to prepare for the upcoming overhaul project(Yes, we thought that far ahead.) Now those instances were easier for us to change/redo than t8+ instances.
    • The Overhaul will force us to rescale each instance. It will also force us to remove some instances due to the difference in scripting methods. Such as Tier 8 for a example. We want it to be scaled down to 10m. Doing so requires us to update the boss scripts. Updating those scripts may take us time to do as it is not a method either of our Devs are use too. On top of the updating, we have to wait for the server itself to receive the updates. This also can be a wait. We prefer to release a bunch of changes at once in these updates rather than just one. So for each update we want to do we have to go through a waiting progress multiple times. It can get frustrating for us. So long story short we may have to create replacement raids after the overhaul that will be bare and minimal, then when we have free time go back and actually update them to the standard they're expected. This is mostly a internal issue and we do apologize that we cannot be quick about it.
    • Due to the zone wide nerfs mentioned in "Why are we doing this?" question all classes end up doing less and less damage and healing as they progress through the tiers which is the exact opposite of what progression means. So the goal here is to have it where going into tier 5 from tier 4 your damage/healing will INCREASE and not decrease while your stats show an increase.

Will I be able to help testing or will we get some kinda previews?

    • We will provide screenshot previews of items showing the stat changes at a later date. We will also provide screenshots showing how raids are going. Once we've decide on the final changes to items, screenshots will be provided.
    • Some of you might get access to the testing realm once it is in a presentable state. Let's call that Alpha Testing. Now, we will not allow everyone access during Alpha Testing because we need a controlled environment that's not flooded with issues.
    • We might open the realm up for a public Beta Test for a week when we're close to finishing the project. We're really unsure if we will. Either way we will let people know how they can go about joining testing when the time is right for it.

So if Zentao is getting changed, that means the event items as well right? I know all items are being changed, etc. but that means the flowers that is a one-hand caster sword, will be changed to main-hand, and same with all other 1h caster weps, right? Would hope so tbh.

Please read the post. We cannot create new content because of how things are currently. Thus why this project is being done.

Nope. You're thinking of the revamp, where they cut old content and added new. The revamp should've had something like this included in it but I cannot speak for the devs who did the revamp for why they never addressed item issues. Thus here we are, finally doing it.

We're very sorry for the lack of updates concerning the Overhaul Project process. Some things have been delayed because of issues on Unlimited that has taken our full attention. But we're trying to get back on track now! Hopefully by next weekend we'll be able to post screenshots of the Tier 1 stat changes. Tier 1 stats will be the base starting point for our scaling on higher tiered items.

At this stage everything is still in raw testing. This means we're trying different methods to scaling certain stats so that a year or two from now we won't have to introduce more changes just to be able to release new content. We want to remind everyone that this is a process and that we want to get things right and done correctly.

So we'll hopefully show you a preview of the confirmed stat squish and maybe go into detail about tier changes next week.
